About Us

The "J. C. FORK LATCH" works much like a yoke on a chain-link gate. This design assures its greatest quality, IT'S SAG PROOF! When that wood gate sags or warps this latch will not come unlatched because it does not rely on a fixed position as does the striker bar latch. Our latch is lockable with a padlock from either side.

Installation is quick and simple. You don't have to add a 2"x 4" piece above and below the middle runner to accommodate the fork latch. Only two holes (or one hole and one notch) need be drilled to install it securely on the existing middle runner. The latch is reversible for right or left hand by simply placing an allen head scr~w in the appropriate hole. It also incorporates a pull handle on both sides. The latch is made of 3/16" x 1" mild steel and is fully adjustable for any dimension of back rail or can be ordered. to latch over a 4" x 4" post if desired.

Our 8" strap hinge is made from twelve gauge P.O. mild steel. It has a full 3/8" x 4" hinge pin. This pin is larger than most 8" hinges, thus giving it greater strength. We have positioned the lag holes back as far from the'hinge cut as possible to prevent splitting the back rail. As an added feature for convenience and strength, we designed two nail holes on both sides of the hinge pin. On the post side of the hinge we drive two 40d nails through the back rail and into the post. On the gate side, we use two l6d's and nail into the back rail. As noted, these nail holes not only add strength to the hinge but also serve to hold the hinge securely while the lag screws are-installed.

We have packaged our fork latch and hinges with the "Do It Yourself" individual in mind. A walk gate set comes in a labeled box (see picture on price sheet) which contains: one latch with bolts, two hinges, with twelve lag screws and a complete instruction sheet. Latches or hinges are also sold separately.

Try the new "J. C. FORK LATCH". We know that you will be satisfied with the quality and ingenuity with which it is made and the time and money you will save by reducing the number of gate adjustments required after installation.
